A few new additions to my Taxonomic List.
First off, a genera I already showed, but this time the stamp has the specie name mentioned and not only the genus name. So I'm adding it. Inscriptions: Tropaeolum majus L. PERU CORREROS I/.0.80 FLORA Á. NY. BUDAPEST.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Next up is also a genus I already showed but it had not the latin name on it at all. This one has, but with a little typo, as so often happens on stamps. Oh well, it's better than nothing. The genus name should be Telopea. Inscriptions: C$16 AEREO NICARAGUA 1988 Telopia speciosissima.
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
Now I show the new genera. First, to continue with the Americas, is a genus from the cactus family. Inscriptions: MEXICO NOPALXOCHIA PHYLLANTHOIDES 20¢ 1977-78.
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
Now we jump across the ocean to Africa with an Orchidaceae specie. Spelled right, the genus name is actually Plectrelminthus. Inscriptions: REPUBLIQUE GABONAISE 100F Poste 2004 PLECTRELMINTUS CAUDATUS Cartor.
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Continuing in Africa, this is a plant of the Santalaceae family. Inscriptions: REPUBLIQUE DE CÔTE D'IVOIRE POSTE 2005 100F Les plantes rares en voie d'extinction Okoubaka aubrevillei (Santalaceae) COLLECTION PROFESSEUR LAURENT AKE-ASSI. Suppose to be a medicinal plant but the stamp states that it's in danger of extinction. Hope that goes only for this country!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Also from Africa is plant of the Leguminosae family, subfamily Mimosaceae. Inscriptions: ANGOLA Correios ALBIZZIA VERSICOLOR 50 Des. AUGUSTO FERREIRA LITOMAIA - PORTO - PORTUGAL.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
From Kenya is a plant from the Rutaceae, or citrus family. Insciptions: Kenya 25/= 2007 Nairobi Arboretum Centenary Cape Chestnut Calodendrum capensis.
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKARA 4400 FMG 880 AVIARY TAKHTAJANIA PERRIERI (CAPURON) PAOSITRA 2002.
This is a peculiar plant, very rare. A primitive flowering plant, it's now classified in the Winteraceae family. It's a new family that did not exist in the days of the Dalla Torr & Harms list. As so often happens, even the genus name is not mentioned in DTH, but a synonym is, Bubbia, and that one is placed in under the genus Drimys in the family Magnoliaceae, and so I place it there.
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKA paositra 2003 100 Fmg Xyloolaena perrieri 20 Ariary.
A plant of the Anonaceae family. This stamp and the others of the series illustrated here is printed so that I've had to scan them in a less sharp way or else bloom-like lines appear across them. They look better this way, believe me.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKA paositra 2003 500 Fmg Megistostegium microphyllum 100 Ariary.
A Malvaceae, like the hibiscus and cotton plant and some popular northern perrenials such as the mauve and the passerose.
JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKA paositra 2003 600 Fmg Tambourissa 120 Ariary.
Monimiaceae family. I had only one other plant of this tiny family.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKA paositra 2003 1.000 Fmg Leptolaena diospyroidea 200 Ariary.
This and the next one are from the new family in my collection, the Chlaenaceae.
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Inscriptions: REPOBLIKAN'I MADAGASIKA paositra 2003 7.500 Fmg Schizolaena tampoketsana 1.500 Ariary.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Inscriptions: INTERNATIONAL LETTER WRITING WEEK 1999 12 BATH THAILAND.
Finally, from Asia is Bretschneidera sinensis from the Hippocastanaceae family. Aesculus is the genus I knew from this family, on stamp and in real life. This one is new to me. Interesting.
